We all recognise the need to take steps to reduce the impact we have on our environment and the funeral profession is no different. At Mears Family Funerals we are committing to doing our part through a number of initiatives and a significant investment in a new, greener ceremonial fleet.

"We are dedicated to environmental improvements that foster a sustainable future and lead to social and economical improvements

in the communities we serve."

Steven Mears, Group CEO

The Mears Family Funerals new fleet of ceremonial vehicles, which comprises hybrid traditional-style hearses and hybrid six-seater limousines, will significantly reduce our carbon footprint through lower emissions when compared to our old diesel powered fleet.

Our new fleet, which will be delivered in early January 2020, is fitted with hybrid drive train technology which combines a petrol engine, electric motor and lithium-ion battery. On the majority of journeys that we make an electric motor delivers a whisper-quiet, clean and efficient ride, with a regenerative braking system that charges the battery by capturing up to 90% of the energy normally lost when braking.

  • The reduction of plastic components across the range of coffins and English caskets
  • Offering an extensive choice of coffins produced from sustainably-sourced materials
  • The availability of plastic-free coffins
  • More and improved Natural and woodland burial options
