Leading independent, family-owned and run funeral directors, Mears Family Funerals, is pleased to announce the appointment of an in-house celebrant. James Huntington, who is a fully trained celebrant with over two and a half years’ experience, will be working closely with the rest of the Mears Family Funerals team to ensure that each ceremony is tailored to our clients needs and is bespoke in its content and delivery so that it fully reflects the life lead with warmth, integrity and professionalism.

Managing Director, Lisa McDermott, said, “I am delighted to welcome James to the team.  Mears Family Funerals is committed to developing new and innovative ways to help bereaved families in the areas we serve. James will be working closely with the managers in our eight branches to deliver a bespoke funeral service that ensures the memory of a loved one is honoured.”

Before becoming a celebrant James worked as a therapist for several years and is very familiar with meeting and working with people during difficult times in their lives, such as coping with the loss of a loved one. James said, “Funerals are multilayered occasions that are a chance for us to honour a family member or friend who has died and to celebrate their life. They are also a time to share our memories, express love and respect for our loved ones, and they are an opportunity for us to come together and say goodbye.”

When planning a funeral ceremony with a family James prioritises sensitivity, compassion and understanding.  He believes that each ceremony should be as unique and special as the person being celebrated and so will work closely with you to put together a meaningful service in accordance with your wishes and of course any wishes left by the person who has died.
